I had never heard of “Rails to Trails” until I moved to Tennessee. Rails to Trails or Rail-Trails are paths created from abandoned railways which are cleared of their tracks and converted to multiuse paths. They are generally flat or gently sloping making it accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
On a busy weekend, we often only have a few hours to do a hike. When we’re pressed for time, we like to go to Warriors’ Path State Park. Warriors’ Path is located on the South Holston River in east Kingsport. It’s very accessible, only a 5 minute drive from 81.
